"Happy Mother's Day to you!
Happy Mother's Day to you!
Happy Mother's Day dear Mommy!
Happy Mother's Day to you!"
This was the first thing I heard upon waking. I was able to sleep in a bit, and when I opened my eyes, this is the sight that greeted me.
My children made me breakfast. In bed. This has never happened before. I had oatmeal with strawberries and raisins, hot cocoa and my littlest one insisted that I needed a banana. It was sweet. Now, I am not really a breakfast person. My speed is more coffee and a Luna bar Chai Tea flavor, please. But I had to be a good sport and take some bites. Don't I look purty when I first wake up? Gah.
I got loot! And cards!
J out did himself on the card. Take a look and see if you relate.
We went to church, then by my request, to Wendy's for lunch. (I really didn't want to fight the crowds today). Wendy's made my meal complete by adding Oreo cookie crumb Frosty's to their menu. Imagine, chocolate Frosty and Oreo. Soo good.
After lunch, I came home and took a nap! Ah, what bliss! I was awakened again, this time JBug took my hand and led me down the hall to the kitchen. JBear stood there beaming. He bowed deeply and said, "Good afternoon madame, may I escort you to your table?" He took my hand and led me to my place. There was a plate of cookies with a strawberry and my favorite beverage, Pepsi. Next to it was a placecard with my picture and this was on the back:
I love my mommy because she makes good G.F.C.F brownies. JBear
I love my mommy because she's always there for me. JBug
I love my Mommy because she likes my pictures and took me to pick strawberries. JBean
So sweet. Then I was whisked to the living room for a "tea party" with my 4 year old daughter. There were more cookies (oh boy) and there was laughter and dancing. We danced like penguins, and hippos and sausage, oh my! They played some of my favorite music. Then I took a quiz to find out how much I knew about my kids. I got almost all of the answers right. I will post it tomorrow, probably. Tonight, we are headed to dinner with J's entire family. Looking forward to it. It has been a wonderful day. My best Mother's Day ever.
T, who has some awesome kids
4 sent chocolate:
LOVE the cards! happy mommy day! C
So sweet.
And the card is hysterical.
I know what you mean about the crowds. We've finally learned our lesson, after so many years of three hour waits and lousy service at our favorite restaurants on Mother's Day. My family is celebrating next weekend!
It's tradition for us to give our mom breakfast in bed. I'm guessing your kids will continue to make you breakfast on mother's day, even when they're married and out of the house. :)
Cmommy: Thanks for the sweet greetings and I hope your day was wonderful!
sweatpantsmom: We ended up going to dinner last night with J's family, and the service was awful! They auctioned off our meals: "who had the meatloaf?" which is a pet-peeve of mine. Bothers me. Also, out of 18 of us, 4 of the dinners were wrong and 2 didn't get anything and had to wait. It was bad.
superhappyjen: Yes, we used to give my mom breakfast in bed, too. Looking back, she was such a good sport! How many burnt pancakes did she choke down from her well-meaning children? You still do breakfast in bed for your mother? I personally would prefer to eat in the kitchen, maybe I can talk my children into that.
