The salmonella outbreak is not over. Could be tomatoes, could be tomahtos. Or, it could be a host of other things: jalapenos, serranos, cilantro... the bottom line is, they just don't know.
So now what am I going to eat with my tortilla chips? Hershey's syrup is too sweet. Don't think I didn't consider it! Hummus is too... yeah. Plain tortilla chips are boring.
Now what??
T, who is tortilla-chipless until you guys figure this out for me
10 sent chocolate:
If you live anywhere near a Trader Joe's, they have the most amazing spinach and artichoke dip. It is totally different from any other I have had and it is awesome! We stock up whenever we go down to our in-laws.
Just go with plain old sour cream. It may be a shock at first for its lack of spice, but give it time and it will grow on you as an optional yin to your usual yang.
Y'all are going to hate me. My mother just canned a jars and jars of homemade salsa from fresh garden grown ingredients last week . . .
Cottage cheese is really good with flavored tortilla chips.
ummm....microwave everything??
We just used the orange cheese sauce in a jar stuff last night...they give it some fancy name (something con queso or whatever) but we just call it "cheese". Yummy, and without the risk of death. Great blog!!! :)
hows about some guacomole?!?!
Ummm, I tend to just do the kinda gross thing and eat Nacho Cheesier Doritos - no dip required :-) I know, I know, not a purist chip experience, but still SO good. We grow our own peppers, tomatoes, and onions at home & attempt to make salsa - my husband LOVES it - wish I could send you some!
trish: J looked for the spinach artichoke dip at TJs...they had spinach, and they had artichoke, but not both, he said. ::sadness::
literaldan: I like sour cream, but I need something to go with it. Like..salsa!
theglasers: woman! want to ship me a couple jars? I will PAY.
sly: cottage cheese probably would be good, but I am a purist and eat plain tortilla chips.
birdie: I think that is what it comes down to, yes.
jenny: and the chemicals in that stuff will probably kill faster than the tainted salsa supplies. But yes, it is om nom nom.
irish mom: I love guac! But without cilantro? I don't think I could do that...
kate: once in a while I eat the Doritos, but I don't like the orange stuff, it ends up all over my pants and I think I glow or something. (course that could be my glowing personality and not the toxic snack...)
Thanks everyone for your suggestions!
T.
If you drink a margarita with, it will kill all the germs. Promise.
