My mother-in-law (well, technically my daughter's grandmother since the marriage ended) has some cognitive issues, a consequence of her 89+ years on the planet. She gets a bit agitated in places new to her, so we went to an eating establishment she has been patronizing for 50 years.
It had a spacious outdoor area, so the 4 year old and the 16 month old could roam about.
The food was outstanding and so was the company. One of the best Thanksgivings in years.
Liz, that sounds like a wonderfully relaxing day. I actually enjoyed ours, too. Less pressure on the kids to "act straight" and they could play with their toys here and just...be.

Might do it again next year.
